Memorable run and very broad reach up to Berkeley Pill in 40 mins
30 Left mooring to begin run inside Counts towards Cone Pill where gybed on starboard which we held for over 3 nm all the way to Berkeley Pill. Significant confused waves generated by the strong wind but almost no water came aboard.
20 Entered Berkeley Pill and beat up to head pill near penstock where we secured Avocet with Danforth anchor. Enjoyed biscuits and beer well sheltered from the wind by the bank.
04 Left head of Pill and beat/reached out to smooth waters along the shore. Direction of wind was such that after one tack to take us out of the last of the flood we sailed on port all the way parallel to the shore and then out to to Counts. Wind shifted around in direction near Counts which necessitated a couple of tacks to avoid the highest Narlwood Rocks. A few drops of rain but then dry and smooth water except on final reach to Oldbury Pill but no water came aboard..
35 Reached Oldbury after a very fine sail indeed. Martin Elms, Free Sailing OOD had not been able to get the fleet up to Aylburton Warth.
